On 9 May 2022, Indonesia urgently reported to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) that foot-and-mouth disease had occurred in 80 villages in Indonesia between 12 April and 22 April, with serotype pending identification. The number of susceptible animals involved was 7013 cattle, of which 3496 became ill. In order to protect the safety of animal husbandry in the People’s Republic of China and prevent the introduction of the epidemic disease, it is hereby announced as follows in accordance with the Customs Law of the People’s Republic of China, The Law of the People’s Republic of China on The Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine and its Implementation Regulations and other relevant laws and regulations:

　　I. Direct or indirect import from Indonesia of artiodactyls and related products (unprocessed or processed products from artiodactyls that may still spread diseases) is prohibited.

　　II. The Posting, delivery or importation of artiodactyls and their products from Indonesia is prohibited. Once found, they will be returned or destroyed.

　　III. Animal and plant wastes, swill, etc. unloaded from ships, aircraft and other means of transport entering from Indonesia shall be treated by the Customs under the supervision of disinfection and disinfestation, and shall not be discarded without authorization.

　　IV. Artiodactyls and their products illegally imported from Indonesia intercepted by border defense departments shall be destroyed under the supervision of the customs.

　　V. Any violation of the above regulations shall be dealt with by the Customs in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Customs Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine and its implementation regulations.

　　VI. Customs at all levels and agricultural and rural departments at all levels shall, in accordance with the Relevant provisions of the Customs Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine, and the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Animal Epidemic Prevention, closely cooperate to do a good job of quarantine, epidemic prevention and supervision.
